Birth chart calculation

Your date, time, and place of birth are sent to an ephemeris-based astronomical engine that computes the exact positions of all nine Vedic planets (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu) at the moment you were born. The calculation uses the Swiss Ephemeris — the same astronomical dataset used by professional astrology software worldwide — and returns each planet's sign, house placement, degree, nakshatra, and retrograde status.

Your ascendant (rising sign) is calculated separately from the exact birth time and geographic coordinates. If your birth time is approximate, the system applies a rectification pass to account for the margin.

Timing: the Vimshottari Dasha system

Career timing windows are derived from the Vimshottari Dasha — a 120-year planetary period system that is the standard timing framework in Vedic astrology. Each person cycles through nine major periods (Mahadashas), each governed by a different planet, in a fixed sequence: Ketu (7 years), Venus (20), Sun (6), Moon (10), Mars (7), Rahu (18), Jupiter (16), Saturn (19), Mercury (17).

Within each Mahadasha, nine sub-periods (Antardashas) run in the same sequence, dividing the major period proportionally. Your current Mahadasha and Antardasha together determine the active timing window — whether the period favors action, patience, financial growth, or consolidation.

The starting point of the Vimshottari cycle is determined by the Moon's nakshatra (lunar mansion) at birth. This is why accurate birth details matter — they anchor the entire timing system.

Career strengths: planetary dignity and placement

Your career strength profile is calculated from each planet's dignity (its relationship to the sign it occupies) and house placement. We use standard Vedic dignity tables:

• Exaltation — a planet in its strongest sign (e.g., Jupiter in Cancer, Saturn in Libra)
• Own sign — a planet ruling the sign it occupies (e.g., Mars in Aries or Scorpio)
• Friendly / enemy sign — based on the natural relationship between the planet and the sign lord
• Debilitation — a planet in its weakest sign (e.g., Sun in Libra, Venus in Virgo)

House placement adds a second layer: angular houses (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th) strengthen a planet's influence, trine houses (5th, 9th) support it, and dusthana houses (6th, 8th, 12th) challenge it. The combination of dignity and house position produces each planet's effective strength — which maps to the career traits shown in your reading.

From chart to career interpretation

Raw planetary data doesn't tell you what to do with your career. The interpretation layer translates chart patterns into career-relevant language:

• Career archetype — derived from your two strongest career traits, mapped to one of ten predefined patterns (e.g., “The Architect,” “The Strategist,” “The Catalyst”)
• Career directions — three domains where your planetary strengths align with specific types of work (leadership, technology, finance, consulting, etc.)
• Timing windows — your current and upcoming Antardasha periods, each labeled as an “act” or “hold” phase with a career-focused description of what the period favors

Every interpretation is grounded in the specific planets and placements in your chart — not generic sun-sign astrology.

What this reading is — and isn't

This is a Vedic career timing reading. It uses real astronomical data and established Jyotish frameworks to surface patterns in your chart that are relevant to career decisions. The timing windows, strength profiles, and career directions are all derived from your specific birth chart — not from your sun sign alone, and not from generic templates.

It is not a prediction of what will happen. Vedic astrology describes tendencies and timing patterns — periods that favor certain kinds of action, and periods that favor patience. How you use that information is always your decision.
